Joseph’s life changed forever when he was diagnosed with esophageal adenocarcinoma. What followed wasn’t just a medical battle; it was a journey through fear, uncertainty, vulnerability, and ultimately a transformation. The toll was immense. Joseph underwent an esophagectomy- a grueling, life-altering surgery that demanded everything he had. At the very same time, his mother was going through her battle with colon cancer.
Jospeh has seen firsthand how overwhelming and isolating a cancer diagnosis can be. He knows what it feels like to wake up every day full of questions, and fear- to feel lost in a world that suddenly speaks a different language. Doctors appointments, treatments, scans, tests, insurance calls- it becomes a full time job. Navigating the healthcare system can feel like chasing shadows. At the very moment when you need clarity and compassion, you’re often met with confusion and silence.
Most cancer patients rely heavily on a family member or a caregiver for daily support. Through his own journey, Joseph met many others who felt exhausted, overwhelmed, and lost. That’s why Rise to Life Foundation was created- to bring clarity, comfort, support and community to those facing the same darkness.
